Hi, I’m Daniel Summerill.

I design systems that improve how teams work — not just what they produce.

My background is in visual design, and while craft and attention to detail still matter, my work today centres on shaping direction, strengthening teams, and helping organisations operate more effectively in complex environments.

I work across both the detail and the bigger picture — bringing structure to messy problems, improving how decisions are made, and creating the conditions for better outcomes. That might mean clearer problem framing, stronger foundations, or evolving how teams operate day to day.

I care about the user at both ends of the experience: the people using the product, and the people building it. Accessibility, collaboration, and systems thinking are central to how I approach design and leadership.

I stay close to the work where it matters, and step back where it doesn’t — mentoring, guiding, and creating space for others to grow.

I use AI selectively as a support tool — helping with research synthesis, documentation, and early exploration. Not as a replacement for thinking, but as a way to reduce friction, surface patterns, and move more deliberately through complex work.

Outside of work, I live in the North East with my wife, our son, and our dog Buzz — my trail-running partner. Running is where I do most of my thinking: no tech, just space. I enjoy being outdoors, good conversations over coffee, and learning from people working in completely different domains.
